Background
The traditional art form of the Siapo or Kapa has steps to creating its Pacific style masterpiece. With a plain canvas of the Siapo or Tapa (the bark of the Paper Mulberry Tree), It flattens into a cloth known as “u'a.” The process of preparing the “u'a” requires such respect for patience and virtue as each individual singlehandedly strips, separate, scrape, and beats into a canvas. Applying their own creativity and imagination, each ideal piece comes from the heart of the designer.
